Foodseum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting and growing the Chicago food community by providing a central voice that promotes food education, celebrates local food achievements and companies, and inspires a new generation of curious and passionate: eaters, food fans and creators.
Foodseum is searching for an outgoing and energetic self-starter with a passion for food, culture and education. The Social Outreach and Blog Intern will report to the Director of Marketing and the Blog Manager. They will be responsible for expanding content opportunities for the Foodseum blog and social media teams. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting with the documentation of the social media and blog growth strategy
Managing and/or building relationships with Chicago-based restaurants, venues, chefs, food influencers and PR representatives
Identifying, planning and executing outreach opportunities for the social media and/or blog teams including: unique tastings, interviews, food experiences, events, partnerships and media passes
Desire to stay up-to-date on local food events/happening
Ability to assist in creating engaging social media content as needed
Handling additional special projects as assigned
Communicating on an as-needed basis with the marketing team regarding project and priorities
Updating the team with weekly status reports of project
The Social Outreach and Blog Intern will be an integral part of the Foodseum team, and will be a key component to the growth of Chicago's first nonprofit food museum. Qualifications:
Excellent writing and communication skills
Strong desire to building relationships with local bloggers, chefs, restaurant groups, event hosts, organizations and food influencers
Experience managing various social media outlets and tools
Experience successfully maintaining and organizing a network of key-individuals
Open mind and desire to learn and work closely with a multi-faceted team
Enjoyment in keeping up with the latest trends in the food industry and culinary arena
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
Solid understanding of Google Docs, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Wordpress and Google Apps
Commitment:
This position is 10 hr / week commitment starting Nov. 1, 2016. This position is unpaid, class credit is available upon request.
