Marketing and Social Media Volunteer / Intern

Foodseum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting and growing the Chicago food community by providing a central voice that promotes food education, celebrates local food achievements and companies, and inspires a new generation of curious and passionate: eaters, food fans and creators.
Foodseum is searching for an outgoing and energetic self-starter with a passion for food, culture and education. The Marketing and Social Media Volunteer / Intern will report to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for the development and execution of Foodseum's social media content. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting with the planning and execution of the social media strategy to grow and engage the online Foodseum community
Planning and scheduling a monthly social media calendar fitting to the current strategic goals and overall Foodseum brand
Ability to stay up-to-date on local food events/happening and posting timely content
Engaging and responding to the Foodseum social media audience
Planning and executing outreach initiatives including communication with schools, cultural institutions, community organizations, online communities, and bloggers, retail business and other local and national audiences
Keeping up-to-date and complete analytics of marketing initiatives
Handling special projects as assigned
Communicating on an as-needed basis with the marketing team regarding project and priorities
Updating the team with weekly status reports of project
The Marketing and Social Media Volunteer / Intern will be an integral part of the Foodseum team, and will be a key component to the growth of Chicago's first nonprofit food museum. Qualifications:
Ability to manage and create content quickly and professionally
Excellent writing and communication skills
Willingness to reach out to bloggers, small businesses, well-known chefs and food industry organizations for guest blogging opportunities and partnerships
Experience managing various social media outlets and tools
Open mind and desire to learn and work closely with a multi-faceted team
Enjoyment in keeping up with the latest trends in the food industry and culinary arena
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
Solid understanding of Google Docs, Facebook, Twitter, Social Media Scheduling Software
Commitment:
This position is 10 hr / week commitment starting Nov 1, 2016. This position is unpaid, class credit is available upon request.
